- Do I need to make an appointment?
- No. You can just walk in and take a free class!
- What should I wear?
- T-shirt and shorts (or sweat pants) will be fine. Be sure to remove all jewelry before training and remember NO STREET SHOES ON THE MAT!
- What do I need to bring?
- You dont have to bring anything, we have equipment you can use at the school during your free class. If you have boxing gloves, focus mitts, ect you are welcome to bring them. We have affordable start up packages available if you need equipment.
- We have a vending machine with water, gatorade & energy drinks for your convenience.
- We also have a shower and changing area if you need to change your clothes after class.
- But I dont have prior training?
- That's
alright. You have no bad habits! We have beginner classes that will help prepare
you to reach your goals. Even if you
have had some type training you can always benefit from the beginner classes to
achieve better technique. Here you
will get a feel for how the classes run and learn exactly what a great workout
is while you are learning to focus on
proper technique.
- No, you do not spar during your Free trail.
You can hit the heavy bags or shadow box using the movements you just learned. You can also sit and watch the others and study
how they move. Sparring is a choice
you make after you have acquired control, respect and good communication with
your partner.
- Do you have kids classes?
- Yes!
In the Englishtown location we offer kids classes 4 days a week.

up as a Modern
Martial Arts
member is easy. Just fill out our “membership” form and Pay
the one time Registration fee of $65. and your first months Tuition to get started. You will receive a FREE school shirt that must
be worn to every class as well as school shorts. Please note: You must enroll in our
electronic payment plan via bank debit card from your account or credit
card. There is absolutely NO cash accepted for tuition payments. Also Equipment must be purchased within your
first month of training.
- What type of equipment will I need?
- To get started you should have a mouthpiece and cup.
- Once you decide you want to pursue training you will need Boxing Gloves, Focus Mitts, Thai Pads & Shin Guards for Muay Thai.
- If you will be training in the MMA class you will need MMA gloves, Focus Mitts & Shin Guards.
- Judo & Jiu-Jitsu students will need a white Gi (uniform).

- Where can I buy sparring / training gear?
- We have everything you will need for training right at the school for your convenience, but you are welcome to bring your own equipment if you already have some.
- You
need to take it one step at a time.
The head instructor John Potenza will let you know when you are ready for competition and what you need to work on if
that is your goal. You can not compete while
representing this school on your own.
Competing involves commitment, hard work, a good work ethic, listening skills and
determination.
